The History of the World in 300 Words
So I’m reading that book A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson and for no good reason at all except that I love history, I was inspired to challenge myself to write a history of the world in 300 words or less. I came in at exactly 300 words. I’m sure there are omissions but hay-soos, it’s hard! And of course, a little silly.

Great job, Julie! I love that Bill Bryson book. I felt so smart when I was reading it, then promptly forgot everything after I finished.
¡Clap clap clap clap!
GENIUS! Love that.
That was absolutely wonderful. You have world history by the tail. Sure tells you to not take life so damned seriously. The world in a nutshell. You are a very talented writer. Kudos to you..

Brilliant Julie! I’m getting flashbacks to us standing in front of that Anglo-Saxon map of Britain discussing the history of the English people for hours… that definitely wasn’t 300 words!
It’s an abomination that you would leave out JELLO.
Other than that- you knocked it outta the park!
Thank you, Julie. I’ll use your outline to teach Social Studies to my 6th graders this year instead of the beaten-up books left over from the Cold War.
Ha HA! Perfect! Have posted it on my facebook page! Sorry I had to leave town!
Only in the age of blogging would this exist. Spot on. I can’t honestly think of anything you missed….
